The Tertiary Institutes Allied Staff Association (TIASA Te Hononga) is the specialist staff association and union for allied (also known as general - non-teaching) staff across the New Zealand tertiary education sector. If you work in a non-teaching role at any level then TIASA is for you! Kia ora - Welcome!

Our history is a proud one, with an enviable 40+ year record of success working to protect and improve the workplace environment and professional interests of TIASA members everywhere. We were formed by and for tertiary education sector allied staff, who back in 1969 recognised the need for a dedicated, expert allied staff voice that understood, could protect and would enhance allied staff conditions of employment, role and profile. In 1989 Maori Delegates became involved and over the next 10 years, a Maori caucus was formed and Te Hononga Maori was established.

TIASA was the result and has been working tirelessly for allied staff ever since.
